About us

CMS was formed over 10 years ago and is run by a professional team with a great deal of experience in supplying health and safety services to the education and social care and health sectors. Our experience covers all aspects of mainstream schools including nursery, infant, junior, special, secondary and colleges. We also have many years experience in social care including care homes and care in the community. To be effective in these specialised sectors it is necessary to have this knowledge as it is totally different to the health and safety needs of industry.

Education

From our work with schools it became apparent that very many were struggling to comply with the legal requirement to carry out risk assessments. Furthermore, we identified that the vast majority of hazards were the same, or similar. We therefore developed a set of general, or generic, risk assessments to cover most aspects of school life.

These packages have been tried and tested in a large number of schools with excellent feedback. They have also satisfied the Ofsted Inspectors and Health and Safety Executive Inspectors.

Our consultants are specialists in education related health and safety issues and continue to develop products to make the Head Teacher\\\'s life easier in complying with health and safety law.

Health and social care.

We also have expertise in the health and social care sector where we have developed a detailed generic risk assessment package to assist the busy care home manager to comply with legislation and the demands of the CQC. To enable us to do this it has been necessary to work closely with care home managers and advise them on the interpretation of H&S law which often seems to be written for industry. Our experience covers assistance with implementation of risk assessments, health and safety audits and general H&S training for the care sector. We have supplied many H&S training sessions for NHS Trusts. We are also able to offer detailed H&S audits of your safety management systems and report on any areas for improvement.

Training

For both of these sectors we are a registered centre to deliver training under licence from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, the leading certification body for health and safety training. Moving and handling training can be tailored to your specific requirements.
