CIEH Principles of COSHH

This is a stand-alone qualification complementing the Health and Safety in the Workplace qualification. It is aimed at those responsible for the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) at work, introducing candidates to the inherent risks in substances and the controls available. From the definition of substances and their potential effects to responsibilities imposed by COSHH Regulations, the qualification will prepare candidates to look carefully at their own work activities and share the responsibilities with their managers and supervisors.

Who needs this qualification?

Appropriate for all employees who use substances hazardous to health in manufacturing, cleaning, health care, transport, utilities and offices.

On completing this qualification candidates will be able to:

Successful completion will prepare employees to look carefully at their own work activities and contribute to the safer use of hazardous substances in co-operation with their managers and supervisors.

Prerequisite

While this unit of study can be delivered as a stand-alone qualification and there are no specific prerequisites, it is strongly recommended that candidates should already hold the CIEH qualification if Health and Safety in the Workplace, or equivalent.
